The Next Great Black Quarterback

Quarterback is one of the most pivotal positions in football. For many years Black Quarterbacks have been under the microscope for over using their athleticism, and not following traditional progressions down field. This is most prevalent in professional football. The quarterback must be able to read defenses, while also going through passing progression accroding to the play call. Despite the fact that many collegiate programs have gone to the spread offense. This offense spreads the field, and simplifies the progression, mandating that the quarterback be held accountable as a running threat. Black quaterbacks have shown high quality level of accuracy and consistency in spread happy offenses it never translates to professional schemes. The decrease in play has started to cause offensive coordinators to implement spread concepts into their strategy to aid quarterbacks. Still despite offensive changing to take advantage of the skill set many Black quarterbacks possess. None have emerged as a viable great, even though the Cam Newtons and Russel Wilson would disagree. I don't feel either will be as successful statistically as Warren Moon and neither have won an MVP like the beloved Steve McNair. There is still hope for not just for those two but also the rest, examine the black quarterbacks in the pros. How many start? How many pass for 3500-4000 yrds per season with 35+ touchdowns?  We" be seen a few solid Black Quarterbacks, Moon, McNair, Cunningham, even Doug Williams won a Super Bowl. besides those few we have those who almost saw greatness Vick, Culpepper, McNabb. Who will emerge as a great will there ever be a Black Quarterback the will rival the Rogers, Mannings, Brees, Roethlisberger  of the world.  Some one who could make the Hall of Fame on numbers alone. I'm sure the pressure is felt from Black men who play the position. I'm adding to that pressure, I'm waiting to see the next Great Black Quarterback.
